I want to be the ripple of a Great Lake Touch all shores before I dissipate Be the echo of an encompassing cave Covering rock walls with reverberant sound waves Ignite me with lighting, rightly make me feel vain Stab me in the bank, my brittle heart condensates Dampen all the passion so we misbehave Repeat the loop and stub out the flame The stars are dimming and we feel the change So burn it all down Without a name Drip me down the verticality I want to see the history bleed Tear it to tatters, legacy The worst of me, through tapestries Closing down all the gates you keep Then eat the key to be at peace I guess if don’t trust myself How could you ever trust me I want to be the ripple of a Great Lake Touch all shores before I dissipate Be the echo of an encompassing cave Covering rock walls with reverberant sound waves Galaxies turn, the gravity unconstrained Stuck in motion with all of your decisions made Invisible, in the dark, as if a grave Clawing your way out through the wooden grain Maybe the earth will provide some light today A leaking sense of matter down spillways and drains Can you hear me now? Can you see the shroud? Can you feel my wake? Now that I’m out of the shade Can you smell the roses? Wake up and revel in the rain I know your space is safe But can you taste my pain? Will I ever be the Marvelous version of me Will I ever be the Starlight in the Skyline, freed

about

The original soundtrack to SURVIVORS OF THE SNAP, an improvised parody from the role playing podcast 20 Sided Stories, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What a strange and enriching experience it has been to write this music. The tone and world of this story was, in many ways, and like most of my work, inspired by music itself. What you hear here is an osmosis of sorts, influenced by the likes of Shlohmo, Cloudkicker, the Netflix Marvel TV Shows, as well as various experimental electronic and hardcore acts, blended eclectically with my own fetish for atmospheric guitars and emotive pads. It was written in sprints to a series of exhausting improvised recordings where the story finds itself like a plane built mid-flight—all among the backdrop of a global mask-wearing pandemic—ultimately becoming this cosmic, sonic concoction of blockbuster builds, dark doom drones, and angsty, rioting upheavals.

In other words, an apt fucking mess.

More figuratively, it is a post-punk exploration on what it means to be unheard; A soundscape of faint and angry echos as lead characters Lily, Masha, and Eric search for themselves in a society gone hollow. Survived, but invisible. Hopeful, but dejected. A Scavenger hunt for meaning and community with your cup half empty.

Though derived from collaborative fiction, there was no way around it:
This score is deeply personal.

Fat has been trimmed and spice has been added. Though most of the score has been intentionally preserved, each cue was revisited, cut down, and remixed to flow as one continuous 5 hour album. Various spots have been fleshed out much further than their original incarnation, with some segments practically becoming new songs entirely.

At the time of writing this, the world is slowly falling apart—or fixing itself, I can't tell which—so may this soundtrack be a supplement to your days in purgatory, whether that be to rebuild... or tear it all down.
