The Incisor 04:06
[[Fire won't burn faster than these incandecent keystrokes Causation to ignite the roots you've laid within Rage cannot contain my savagery you see I am beyond the home of your ignorance and sin Civilized with regal eyes and realizing the real guise I formulate a prize for my fragile ego to contain and win Incisor, cut by the words of my teeth through this misleading Digital Age We oh so solemnly sleep in]] In person I am Kind Someone unique to Find Everyone but me Has lost their Mind Pixelate their Pain Gaslighting to Gain Everyone but me Has gone Insane Are you yet overwhelmed? I prey on your hell [[The liberties you vow have little worth to my trash mind I've bathed in priveledge and love every breathing moment of the hive It has become my bed and these nightmares will forever blanket The selflessness you claim to strike internally To I, nirvana is forsaken and dead Righteousness is a capitalist product and I just got back from the marketplace Locally grown and curated, a small entrapped box that fights all logic with a Right-Hand and masked face It's a home-remedied alternative, a doomday device just for you, Happy Birthday I hope you had a moment to say goodbye the the goodlife before its intrinsiclly erased Setting off into the sky in short white spurts You can them micro-agressive wars if you wish and if you hurt For any cosmic black star passing overhead from here on out is the purest sight you'll witness and in this I regret nothing, because I cloak myself in axious anger, deep-woven fear, and the drive for emotional physical fitness Look back and never forget: Facts are a thing of the past Rights are a thing of the past Health is a thing of the past, History is a thing of the past My subjective knowledge has superseded its own grand origin Superior from the first nod And your future, in all its ill-fated evil and harmony, rests in the palm of my bleeding heart Or so help me God]] In person I am Kind Someone unique to Find Everyone in this world but me Has lost their godamn Mind Pixelate all their Pain Gaslighting to my Gain Everyone in this world but me Has gone fucking Insane

The Intrepid 04:12
Vigilante for life And anti-strife My mask don't come off Instead throwin molotov Fragments of hope Soaked in anger I scoff at your "fire" And douse the cliffhanger We don't like to play nice out here We don't tolerate your red fear And don't think I ain't afraid to hurt you [[Take this and picture it Nicely framed on your plaster walls Bent neck and all, or, better yet, From the saftey net of your warm blankets Its cast a crimson shadow over The personality you could have had They say treat others the way you wish to be treated. But I've had enough There are no more black stars to ponder The sky is white and burning The ozone of our pateince has holes And we'll step on your path of coals no longer Maybe its not your fault. Maybe you really do mean better Maybe no soul wishes to grow these days And for that you were caught in an iron bear trap But for that, or better, or worse The tension has snapped and I can't hold back A world in which your hate and stubborn ideals Are destined to grow beyond where we're at The past can finally be drowned. Drowned and tied to fiery cinder-blocks Propped to bottom reaches of the Pacific Specifically. Picture a world in which you are not in it]] I live on the edge Mountain has been flagged I take your cry of attack And spray it back Our franchise can't reach out of town You've disabled us for far too long Time for you to go down Hope you enjoyed the little song We don't like to play nice out here We don't tolerate your red fear And don't think we both haven't knocked on hypocrisy's front door

The Infected 05:25
This is not a dream [[We travel in packs and foam at the mouth We hide in the corner of your life (and the South) We scathe at skin, biting like snakes Resorting to Patterns and holding the stakes We crawl backwards in an armoured dirge We can't be broken by offensive attack We strike for the flat side of the Earth And with it, carry the weight of the "facts" Our boiling fever does not subside It only burns brighter inside Just like the skies our eyes stay fixed Transfixed and soaring higher, we rise We know not of what we feel We only know its Right We know not of what we crave We only know to fight]]

The Inerrant 03:55
Hand picked by fate I was to change the world
5.
The universe scares us And we refuse to say it But day by day we may cowardly Decide out of [[Mayday, mayday]] We value our despicable roots But take the wholsome price tag off others' We wholly value holy integrity and family Without a bid of respect to nature's future mothers [Inversitle] We could get along We could live aside We'd sing the same songs Drink the same tea Live carefree Everything'd be fine If you were just like me I don't speak for all But I do declare My loyalty does not waver Out of the truth that I fear All things of else Who do not reflect Ya better get out of my Inflexible nation Its a safe space and I will demand respect [Indivisible] We could get along We could live aside We'd sing the same songs Drink the same tea Live carefree Everything'd be fine If you were just like me [[We're going down. This party is over.]]

The Left 03:40
More Rules More Deeds We strive for a better society Road blocks Be free Grab yourself some human decency We fall from Grace to lend a hand to those below Who says the sun must always beam against the snow? We will not stoop low nor settle nor fade, melt soft and slow (No) Snowflakes, go forth now. Float upwards and make it loud How about this history we've lost? Stake claim on their roots for a cause They've had their chance If we resist we can do no wrong
7.
The Right 03:18
No Rules No Deeds We strive for a better society Hard work Sets free Grab yourself some Human Efficiency We rise from dust to hammer the nail Steadfast, we've got drive like the automobile Our factory churns and the steel it sails And we'll never let go of our glorious hail Raining like Onyx Boulders Opposition will be crushed Holders of resistance, You don't understand This is the way it must Be one with the iron fist Or stake claim on our list And become missed/mist

[[They watched from atop of the highest skyscraper as the infrastructures failed Both sides destroyed, no longer making shape Society lost its way and Humanity, its form As the nation slept its last night And worked its last day And shut its last door The Invisible no longer reined For a wasteland had grown in place Instead rain poured from outside the window And the face of all legacies vanished Without a trace, taking new pace In this now empty human race Once bloated of instrinsic ideas Gone. Intrinsically erased. They felt at fault, as they stood by And watched the droll of the long white sky Scraping by and asking why but still unable to hear the song. It is now a deaf drone that echoes across the trenches of their dreams All but seen, Hypocrisy said hello from the hilltops Then waved goodbye and parted, alone Jagged is the once Flat side of the Earth Yet, Unchanged and all the Same. No rules No deeds But far from Anarchy, A torn void of blue and red mistakes Parts an unspecific sea]]]]] \... When you see end of the world You don't marvel in its beauty Nor frown at its destruction You look back and breathe regret This is your home, *that* you know. Though all the roots have been pulled from its soil And thus, the tree of life no longer grows (So) If you wish to exit this maze And the stars do not respond Do not look left Do not look right Accept that in this game no one wins Inhale Look forward And within .../

about

The idea behind 8 Bit Obituaries was to create an 8 bit chiptune style track once a day for eight consecutive days. Each song is subsequently titled after a character and tells the story of their life and death.

#07 took a nod from previous years and tells a linked narrative where each Obituary plays part in the story of another. The arc is inspired by America's social-political turbulence in 2017. Which was... hard to write about, to say the least. Yet I wrote more lyrics than I think I ever have in such a small amount of time.

My goal every year (since at least #4) is to try and push the envelope and experiment with the genre, and ultimately myself, by making the the record an improvement over the year that preceded it. I think I managed to do that, and I hope you think so too.
